As a key member of the Resort Leadership Team, the Director of Sales & Marketing serves as the senior commercial leader for Alyeska Resort, Alaska’s premier year-round mountain destination. This role provides both strategic direction and hands-on leadership across the full spectrum of sales and marketing, with responsibility for integrating lodging, mountain experiences, and resort-wide programming into a cohesive, year-round demand-generation strategy. Operating within a true destination commercial model, the Director plays a critical role in shaping how guests discover, purchase, and experience Alyeska Resort as a complete and integrated offering, while driving topline revenue growth, market share expansion, and long-term brand value.
The Director leads both proactive and reactive sales efforts in a high-volume, complex resort environment with significant group, tour, transient, and catering demand, ensuring alignment with Alyeska’s brand promise, ownership objectives, and long-term growth strategy. In close partnership with the General Manager, Executive Leadership Team, Revenue Management, Brand Strategy, Operations, Mountain, and Nordic Spa teams, this role delivers fully integrated commercial strategies that maximize revenue, strengthen brand presence, and elevate the overall guest experience.
What You'll Do
Sales & Commercial Strategy Leadership
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve booking, revenue, and profitability targets across all business segments.
Lead strategic account planning for key demand generators, destination partners, and high-value clients.
Direct proactive and reactive sales efforts, ensuring disciplined pipeline management and consistent execution.
Drive sales for group mountain experiences, resort buyouts, corporate programs, and large-scale activations.
Identify and grow non-traditional demand segments, including corporate, incentive, experiential travel, and shoulder-season opportunities.
Personally engage in high-impact sales activity, including key accounts, negotiations, site visits, and closing priority business.
Serve as the senior sales contact and customer advocate for key clients and ownership, while acting as a key architect of Alyeska’s long-term evolution as a year-round mountain destination.
Ensure seamless transition from sales to event execution, delivering exceptional guest experiences and repeat business.
Act as property authority on sales processes, contracts, and negotiations, ensuring consistency and risk management.
Marketing & Brand Activation
Lead property-level marketing strategies, campaigns, and promotions that drive demand and reinforce Alyeska’s brand and year-round adventure positioning.
Partner with Brand Strategy and agencies to execute integrated digital, social, PR, and traditional marketing initiatives.
Identify and activate public relations opportunities to elevate regional and national brand awareness.
Translate mountain and resort experiences into compelling, authentic marketing narratives.
Expand reach beyond overnight guests by driving awareness and conversion for day-use and experiential visitors.
Support crisis communications in partnership with the General Manager and leadership team as required.
Revenue Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Revenue Management to align sales strategy with pricing, inventory, and distribution.
Optimize participation across sales channels, partnerships, and destination marketing organizations.
Collaborate with Events and Operations to ensure operational feasibility, service excellence, and seamless delivery of booked business.
Monitor and resolve client issues arising from the sales process to maintain strong satisfaction and loyalty.
Leadership, Team & Culture Development
Lead, coach, and develop the Sales & Marketing team to achieve individual and collective booking goals.
Set clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability structures for direct reports.
Build scalable team structures, processes, and performance management systems that support long-term success.
Partner with People & Culture to attract, retain, and develop top commercial talent.
Champion succession planning, leadership development, and a high-performance culture aligned with Alyeska’s values.
Community & Relationship Building
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national partners, including tourism organizations, community groups, and industry associations.
Represent Alyeska Resort at key tradeshows, sales missions, and client events.
Strengthen Alyeska’s presence as a destination resort through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
Deliver exemplary customer service that drives loyalty, repeat business, and long-term value.
Financial & Performance Accountability
Maintain overall responsibility for achieving sales, revenue, and profitability goals.
Monitor performance metrics and financial results, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
Balance revenue growth with expense control to deliver strong returns for ownership.
Manage the annual sales and marketing budget, ensuring strong ROI and alignment with business objectives.
Partner with Events and Operations teams to forecast and track monthly Food & Beverage topline revenue, ensuring event-driven demand is accurately reflected in financial projections and overall budget performance.
Develop and manage the Sales & Marketing budget and annual business plans in close collaboration with the on-property senior leadership team, ensuring alignment with overall resort strategy, revenue objectives, and ownership priorities.
Provide regular reporting and insights to the Executive Leadership Team on sales performance, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.

What We Need
Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of progressive sales and marketing leadership experience in a resort, hotel, or destination environment; experience in high-volume group and catering sales strongly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing sales and marketing teams.
Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of revenue management principles, sales strategy, market analytics, and ROI-driven marketing.
Financial Acumen: Strong ability to analyze data, build budgets, and manage P&L to meet targets.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence at the executive, ownership, and client levels.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term brand and revenue strategy.
