Project Carpenter
Responsible for general construction and woodworking around the Resort.
Main Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to personally perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Work weekends as necessary to the completion of the project
Work with other staff members engaged in construction, erection, dismantling and maintenance repair of all types of wooden, steel and light gauge metal and sheetrock structures.
Use of equipment such as rough forms, fixtures, window frames, partitions, casings, doors, floorings, moldings, office partitions, platforms, stages, booths, etc.
Perform woodwork and construction consisting of complete planning, layout and section of proper material, working from blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions (including sketch preparation).
Maintain necessary records relating to work to be done, completed work and shop inventories, and requisitions necessary materials and supplies.
Requires the ability to set up and operate a table saw, band saws, planer, joiner, grinder, sanding machine and use all carpenters’ and tools.
Work to specified tolerances specified.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Requirements:
Minimum of ten (10) years of training and/or experience as a carpenter required.
Journeyman Carpenter in the State of Alaska is preferred.
Experienced Laborer
Forklift operation experience
Good customers service skills, interpersonal skills, and verbal/written communication skills.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and with fumes.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must have or be able to obtain within the introductory period, the following: Valid Alaska Driver's license.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. Employee must know what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to use in appropriate environments and must direct others to use same.
