We’re looking for Phone Board Exchange Operator professionals to join us in Girdwood, Alaska for this Full-Time, Year-round position. 
 
What You’ll Do 

As a Phone Board Exchange Operator, you’ll operate the switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls by performing the following duties: 

  • Use private branch exchange (PBX) switchboard to promptly answer internal and external calls in a professional, friendly and courteous manner, following Resort standards. 
  • Answers, screens, and routes outside calls; or take messages as necessary. 
  • Supplies information to callers, records messages and reads messages to guests. 
  • Monitor and respond to surveys- all forms. 
  • Maintain Interdepartmental correspondence and communication. i.e. – Morning Report 
  • Complete inventory and ordering for various Front office supplies. 
  • Collect wake-up call information, input into wake-up system and verbally confirm time to guests. 
  • Initiate emergency response when necessary and legibly document pertinent details.  
  • Keeps records of calls placed and toll charges. 
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, proofreading, and sorting mail. 
  • Operate paging/radio system to relay in-house announcements, call individuals to phone, or inform employees and guests in emergency situations. 
  • Updates telephone directory.

What We Need 

  • QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Professional demeanor and excellent telephone etiquette required. Ability to speak additional languages preferred.  
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

📌 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. 
📌 WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
📌 OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The following are additional essential elements of the position, Work weekends & holidays on a flexible schedule. Work with minimal supervision.
