The Tour & Travel Manager is responsible for leading Alyeska Resort’s Tour & Travel segment, driving topline revenue while ensuring operational excellence across all tour-related business. This role combines direct sales responsibility with managerial oversight of tour administration, acting as the strategic owner of the segment and the operational steward of execution.
The Tour & Travel Manager develops and executes sales strategies, manages key tour operator relationships, and closes profitable business while also setting standards, workflows, and accountability for tour contracting, block management, billing, group communication, and interdepartmental coordination. Success in this role is measured not only by revenue performance, but by the consistency, accuracy, and guest experience delivered by the tour function as a whole.
Position Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Leadership
Own the Tour & Travel market segment strategy, including domestic and international wholesale, receptive operators, and guided travel programs.
Actively solicit new business through direct sales efforts, client outreach, tradeshows, site visits, FAMs, and industry events.
Manage and grow existing tour operator relationships to maximize share, yield, and long-term partnerships.
Negotiate and execute contracts including room blocks, rates, minimum revenue commitments, function space, and food & beverage pricing within approved guidelines.
Partner with the Director of Sales and Director of Revenue Management to identify demand opportunities, optimize inventory, and improve market penetration.
Own monthly and annual room night, revenue, and service goals for the Tour & Travel segment.
Administrative & Operational Leadership
Provide direct oversight and leadership to the tour administrative function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in all tour-related processes across the resort.
Consistently execute on standards for:
Tour block creation and balancing in Opera
Contract drafting and execution
Deposit schedules, invoicing, and final bill reconciliation
Group resumes, BEOs, and Tour Summary Reports
Ensure all tour details are fully documented, communicated, and distributed to operational departments to support seamless group arrivals and departures.
Oversee preparation and distribution of weekly pickup reports, BEO reports, resumes, and tour grids.
Act as the escalation point for complex tour issues, billing discrepancies, or service recovery needs.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Guest Experience
Serve as the primary on-property liaison for tour partners and inbound groups.
Maintain strong, proactive communication with Front Office, Reservations, Banquets, F&B, Finance, and Operations to ensure alignment and execution.
Attend and lead participation in BEO meetings, resume meetings, pickup meetings, and relevant operations forums.
Ensure tour escorts and group leaders receive organized arrival materials, itineraries, welcome amenities, and accurate rooming confirmations.
Support the Front Office team with group arrival planning, VIP handling, and special requests.
People Leadership & Process Management
Train, coach, and support team members on tour systems, standards, and best practices.
Delegate effectively while maintaining accountability for accuracy and deadlines.
Build scalable processes that reduce risk, eliminate errors, and improve efficiency as tour volume fluctuates seasonally.
Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture within the Sales and Operations teams.

Essential Skills & Experience:
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hotel or resort sales, tour & travel, group sales, or related hospitality field; experience working with tour operators, wholesale accounts, or guided travel programs strongly preferred. Resort or destination-driven sales experience highly desirable.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience considered.
Financial & Commercial Acumen: Strong analytical and financial skills with demonstrated ability to manage room blocks, pricing, deposits, invoicing, and revenue commitments. Proven ability to interpret budgets, evaluate market conditions, and optimize business opportunities in alignment with resort goals.
Leadership & Communication: Effective communicator with proven success leading and influencing cross-department teams. Demonstrated ability to manage administrative workflows, delegate effectively, and maintain accountability while remaining service-oriented, proactive, and solutions focused.
Operational & Systems Knowledge: Demonstrated success managing high-volume group or tour operations, including contract execution, block management, BEO development, billing reconciliation, and operational communication. Proficiency with Opera PMS and Microsoft Office preferred, with the ability to establish standards and improve processes in a fast-paced resort environment.
