Alyeska Resort is seeking a highly motivated and experienced People Relations Manager to help lead our dynamic People & Culture team. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, this leadership role will provide support to all levels of employees and management regarding employee and labor relations, HR policies and practices, and making recommendations that promote positive employee relations. They act as a bridge between the organization's management and its employees, ensuring seamless communication, effective conflict resolution, and the promotion of an environment steeped in mutual respect and understanding. This role will play a key role in planning, developing, implementing, and promoting programs that enhance overall employee engagement, retention, and productivity.

Position Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations:
    • Manage and address HR-related inquiries, grievances, and personnel matters, ensuring a responsive and supportive environment.
    • Lead the review and advisory process for employee grievances and disciplinary actions, ensuring fairness and transparency.
    • Act as the chief investigator for personnel issues, guiding towards appropriate resolutions while minimizing legal risks and maintaining company integrity.
    • Navigate complex employee relations challenges, mediating conflicts to achieve harmonious outcomes.
    • Leverage deep knowledge of employment laws (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.) to provide expert guidance and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Policy and Procedure Development:
    • Manage and address HR-related inquiries, grievances, and personnel matters, ensuring a responsive and supportive environment.
    • Lead the review and advisory process for employee grievances and disciplinary actions, ensuring fairness and transparency.
    • Act as the lead investigator for personnel issues, guiding towards appropriate resolutions while minimizing legal risks and maintaining company integrity.
    • Navigate complex employee relations challenges, mediating conflicts to achieve harmonious outcomes.
    • Leverage deep knowledge of employment laws (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.) to provide expert guidance and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Maintain confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.
    • Stay abreast of employment law updates, safeguarding the resort's compliance with current regulations.
  • Employee Engagement and Retention:
    • Facilitate timely and effective internal communication of important updates and announcements to all employees.
    • Assist in organizational change efforts by helping employees adapt to new processes, technologies, or structures.
    • Design and implement programs to measure and enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
    • Develop strategies to recognize and reward employee achievements and milestones.
    • Support promotion and administration of the Pomeroy Pulse Employee Engagement Survey.
  • Performance Management:
    • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback mechanisms.
    • Provide managers with the tools and knowledge to resolve performance and disciplinary matters effectively.
    • Assist in identifying areas for improvement and implementing performance improvement plans as needed.
    • Identify and develop future leaders, supporting employee career progression within the resort.
  • Learning and Development:
    • Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and create customized learning solutions.
    • Plan and execute training sessions that elevate employee competencies and performance.
    • Provide guidance and resources to enhance leadership and managerial skills.

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in developing and executing HR programs that create positive and measurable impact.
  • Proven experience with problem analysis, conflict management, and resolution.
  • Subject matter expertise in regulatory areas (i.e. EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and best practices.
  • Experience in case management and labor relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with grace, diplomacy, and remain neutral in difficult employee relation issue.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when dealing with sensitive employee matters.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience using Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
