Winter Groundskeeper

As a Winter Groundskeeper at Alyeska Resort, your role is crucial in maintaining the resort's grounds and parking facilities during the winter season. You'll ensure the safety and convenience of guests by performing tasks related to parking management, sanding, snow and ice removal, and general upkeep. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Parking 
    • Efficiently set up and assist in parking management at the Daylodge parking lot. 
    • Maintain necessary signage to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout Alyeska Resort. 
  • Sanding 
    • Conduct daily inspections of all parking lots, sidewalks, roadways, and building entry/exits to promptly identify and address icy conditions. 
    • Apply sand by hand or with a sand truck as needed. 
    • Monitor and refill all sand barrels as required. 
  • Snow/Ice Removal 
    • Remove snow and ice from walkways around the hotel and other resort buildings. 
    • Clear ice and snow from the deck at Sitzmark. 
    • Operate a plow truck to clear parking lots and roadways. 
    • Utilize a skid steer loader with a snow blower attachment to maintain hotel pathways.   
    • Clear snow from roofs as necessary. 
  • Grounds 
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace. 
    • Perform regular cleanup of trash around resort buildings, roadways, and parking lots. 
    • Take responsibility for the equipment and vehicles you operate.   
    • Perform any other duties as assigned. 

Essential Skills and Experience   

  • Proficiency in operating small equipment and vehicles. 
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a D.O.T. physical examination. 
  • Strong communication and guest service skills are essential, as frequent interaction with resort guests on the grounds is required.

  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
