Sommelier

 

The Sommelier manages the organization, sales and training of wine at Seven Glaciers, knows the wine list and presents to guests, and Creates and upholds SOPs for service.

Position responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a wine-training program for staff at Seven Glaciers.
  • Assist in monthly inventory of all wine.
  • Ensure wine lists (and inventory sheets) are accurate, especially in regards to spelling and vintage.
  • Learn menu items and daily specials. Assist with wine/food pairing as needed by managers, chefs and guests.
  • Assist in training and maintaining courteous and professional wine and beverage service in all outlets.
  • Work with beverage manager to set par levels.
  • Work the floor to increase wine sales. Improve wine sales through creative ideas.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Essential skills and experience:  Must have minimum 3yrs experience selling wine. Must be organized and able to manage 4000+ bottle inventory. Must have or be able to obtain within the introductory period, the following: TAPS card and Food Handlers Card.

Language Skills:  Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively present information on one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
