Mountain Sports School Manager

We’re looking for a Mountain Sports School Manager to lead our winter and summer Mountain Sports School operations in Girdwood, Alaska. 

 

What You’ll Do 

As the Mountain Sports School Manager, you’ll oversee the people, programs, and daily operations that make our Mountain Sports School successful. You’ll lead instructors, guides, administrative staff, and support teams while ensuring exceptional instruction, guest service, safety, and operational performance. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead, coach, and develop Mountain Sports School instructors, guides, administrative staff, and support personnel. 
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate team members to maintain strong instructional and performance standards. 
  • Develop and manage group lessons, private instruction, specialty clinics, and other mountain sports programs. 
  • Oversee lesson registration and booking processes through Flaik, RTP, and Aspenware. 
  • Manage daily operations, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, expenses, and resource allocation.  
  • Build relationships with local schools, organizations, and community groups to generate new business. 
  • Represent Alyeska Mountain Sports School within the community and mountain sports industry.

What We Need 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 
  • Previous management experience within a Mountain Sports School or similar instructional environment. 
  • Strong understanding of skiing and snowboarding techniques and instruction. 
  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills. 
  • Excellent guest service and communication abilities. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management. 
  • Ability to analyze operational data and performance reports. 
  • Professional Ski Instructors of America – American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) Level 3 preferred. 
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification preferred.
