We’re looking for a Ski Patrol Night Supervisor professional to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska
 
What You’ll Do 
 
As a Ski Patrol Night Supervisor, you will serve as the operational leader of Ski Patrol during assigned evening shifts. This position provides direct supervision of patrol staff, coordinates terrain openings and closures, manages operational incidents, and serves as the primary liaison between Ski Patrol and other mountain departments during evening operations
 
Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Directly supervise patrol staff during assigned shifts.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to patrol personnel.
  • Coordinate daily terrain openings and closures.
  • Monitor mountain conditions and operational hazards.
  • Assume Incident Command during significant incidents and operational emergencies occurring during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate emergency response.
  • Serve as a Patrol representative as needed during lift evacuations and operational emergencies.
  • Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor operational readiness of patrol equipment and rescue systems.

What We Need 

  • OEC or EMT certification
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • NSP Membership
  • ATF&E Background Check
  • Minimum 5 years professional ski patrol experience, including at least 3 seasons participating in avalanche mitigation programs
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and sound judgment
  • Advanced skiing and toboggan handling skills
  • Proficiency in lift evacuation, rope rescue, avalanche rescue, and mountain operations

 What to Expect 

Physical demands: 

  • Demonstrates advanced skiing and toboggan handling skills in a variety of terrain, snow, and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to ski for extended periods while carrying patrol equipment and performing emergency response duties.

 

Work Environment

  • Regularly works outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including cold temperatures, high winds, limited visibility, and severe winter weather. 
  • Frequently exposed to steep, uneven, and hazardous mountain terrain.
  • May be required to respond to emergencies in remote locations and work at heights during evacuation and technical rescue operations.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

 Schedule:

  • Primarily scheduled as closing-shift supervisor, typically Thursday through Sunday. Schedule may be adjusted based on operational needs, staffing requirements, training, or special events.
