Controller

We are hiring for the role of Controller.  This full-time leadership opportunity is based out of the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, and offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.

Achieving Excellence:

 As a Controller you will be responsible for executing and overseeing a broad range of full cycle accounting duties in addition to leading a growing team of professionals. You will be responsible to produce and oversee with timeliness and accuracy, financial reporting, costing, budgeting, forecasting and preparing of financial statements. You will achieve excellence by maintaining accounting principles, creating and monitoring internal controls, and providing strategic direction to your team and senior leaders within the organization. Qualifications:

  • Supervises and trains accounting staff, monitors, controls scheduling, and work flow; including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Daily Income Audit, General Cashier, Payroll Manager and Assistant Controller.
  • Performs and coordinates monthly closing of the general ledger, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares and submits various tax forms and reports required by different levels of government.
  • Prepares and submits schedules and reports required by persons, groups and agencies outside the company.
  • Assists in preparation of company’s annual operating and capital budgets. Monitors actuals to budget daily.
  • Maintains the Resort's cash flow records; keeps books and records on all related transactions and assets.
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, financial strategies, objectives, and policies for the Resort.
  • Works with all departments in preparation of budgets. Reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of financial status. Researches variances and prepares internal analysis reports.
  • Prepares weekly labor plan tracking tool and communicates effectively with directors to maintain plan adherence.
  • Tracks and maintains fixed asset records in conjunction with home office reporting systems.

Education & Experience:

  • S. Accounting
  • P.A
  • B.A Preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-location, multi-entity corporate structure with multiple business combinations and stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task, produce accurate work against hard deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience with demonstrated leadership skills

Working Conditions:

This position is based in an office setting working Monday to Friday; however, it may require some long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturn in business demands or meet deadlines. The Controller role is specialized, highly interactive and requires a high technical proficiency in accounting. Set in a fast paced, challenging and rewarding work environment based out of the Alyeska Corporate Office.
