Vehicle Maintenance Tech I - This positons is in Girdwood, Alaska. This poisiton pay between $28.00 and $30.00 per hour to start.

Vehicle Maintenance Tech I assists other mechanics with repairs. Keeps shop maintenance area clear and orderly. Helps transport resort vehicles for repairs.  Completes minor PM’s and repairs.

 Position responsibilities:

  1. Pick up parts at Hotel.
  2. Transport vehicles as needed.
  3. Perform Minor PMI on Resort equipment.
  4. Minor necessary repairs on small engine equipment, trucks, vans and busses.
  5. Assists Tech II & III on maintenance and repair projects.
  6. Complete and accurate recording of daily activity on work orders.
  7. Management of specific assigned shop areas.
  8. Maintaining the cleanliness of the shop area in order to provide a safe work environment.
  9. Attend weekly staff and safety meetings.
  10. Will be respectful of all employees and guests of Alyeska Resort.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must be over 18 years old
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Alaska Drivers License
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission
  •  Mechanical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of small hand tools and equipment for light duty vehicle repair and the ability to use them
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

  • Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside, and wet floors indoors.
