As the SMERF/Tour Sales Manager you will be responsible for new business development and account management for the hotel. You will be expected to exceed your revenue targets through the use of outside sales calls, telephone solicitation, site inspections, FAMS and tradeshow representation to build relationships and target new business opportunities.  You will work with Receptive Tour operators as well as Domestic and International FIT operators to execute a sales strategy that supports the overall strategic goals of the organization. You will work diligently to identify market trends and identify potential opportunities for the Resort.  In addition to achieving monthly revenue targets you will be expected to develop and maintain a comprehensive strategic plan and follow through on all initiatives.  The role requires resourcefulness and drive; a natural influencer that will aid the team of high performers. You will be a champion of managing and executing the Hotel’s proactive sales efforts while making business decisions that are focused on upholding the highest standards in guest service while delivering against key financial goals and performance metrics. Key Focuses                                                                                                                                                                     

  • Be responsible for SMERF & Tour business development at the Resort                            
  • Respond to and qualify all incoming sales inquiries and ensure timely follow up                                        
  • Creating a robust funnel and developing long lasting relationships relative to your market segment                                                                                                                                                             
  • Develop and maintain a strategic calendar with clearly established sales activities
  • Achieve group revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity                                                                                                                                   
  • Handle customer complaints and act as the on-property liaison for group sales                                    
  • Close group business with accurate and responsible contracts                                                              
  • Verify business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery 
  • Establish and maintain primary, secondary and tertiary Key Accounts                                          
  • Conduct Site Visits, FAMS and Client events to increase awareness of the Resort                       
  • Represent the hotel in a professional manner at all tradeshows and external sales opportunities      
  • Prepare sales-related documents throughout the sales process (e.g., proposals, contracts, or banquet event orders)                                                                                                                                  
  • Enter, retrieve, reconcile, and verify information (e.g., commissions, leads, third parties and billing)                                                                                                                                                  
  • Drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience                                      
  • Implement the brand’s service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process                                                                                                                                                            
  • Proficient in Opera S&C, PMS, Ideas, CI/TY and Microsoft Office                                                          
  • Actively engage in daily business review, funnel meetings, group rooms review to provide up to date information and other meetings as required                                                                                    
  • Attend and contribute to all Sales & Operations meetings as required to ensure seamless delivery of events and effective communication                                                                                                                                                             

                                                                                                                                                               Experience/Passions/Education                                                                                                                                                              

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                                          
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.                                            
  • Prior hotel sales, operations or catering experience strongly preferred                                          
  • Knowledge of Opera/CI/TYaccount management software preferred                                                         
  • Must be PC proficient (Microsoft Office) and able to prepare reports as assigned                          
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions                                                         
  • Ability to multi-task, produce accurate work against hard deadlines                                                          

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:                                                                                                                                                               

As Sales Manager - SMERF/TOUR you will spend most of the time working business hours Monday to Friday. However, you may also experience long days and/or weekends to meet occasional upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. This hybrid role, allows for flexibility to get work done where most productive and can be based out of the Resort/home office. Monthly travel will be required. This leadership position is set in a fast-paced environment, with high levels of interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
