Mountain Host  

Job Summary:  

  • The Mountain Host team member will enhance the guest experience to achieve the goal of 100% satisfaction through engagement, connecting with, assisting, and valuing the guests.  
  • This is a seasonal postion with employment falling between the following dates: November 18 - April 29

Job Responsibilities: 

  • The ability to always think safety first.  
  • Assist guests in the arrival and departure of parking lots and base facilities; assist guests with directions, information, and public relations.  
  • The Mountain Host team will set up ski information boards, ski racks, and picnic tables, distribute trail maps.   
  • The Mountain Host team will remove snow with shovels or snow blowers.  
  • The Mountain Host team will be asked to perform line control at lifts and assist with lift-down situations.  
  • Lead 1 hour mountain tours twice during the day. 
  • Be an ambassador at all lift locations during the day to provide information and promote Alyeska Resort and all available product offerings. 
  • Maintain vigilance for a safe mountain experience by monitoring mountain ski runs for injured guests and/or guests needing assistance. This monitoring includes notifying mountain dispatch of anyone needing help and staying with the individual until ski patrol arrives.   
  • Perform effective speed control throughout the day by educating skiers and riders Must have proficient knowledge of Alyeska Mountain lifts, trails, runs, TBL, and parks.  
  • Maintain updated knowledge of products and services available to guests across Alyeska Resort and the local community.  
  • Attend and participate in Mountain Host team meetings.   
  • Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance the guest experience wherever possible.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high altitudes, and extreme weather conditions.  
  • The position requires the employee to possess excellent skiing ability and have the capability to ski or snowboard in a variety of variable snow conditions.  
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).    
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

  • Physical demands:  Ability to lift up-to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time.   
  • Work Environment:  This role occasionally involves extended hours, nights, and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. Operating within a dynamic, fast-paced guest-centric setting, you will maintain a high level of interaction with staff, guests, and stakeholders.
