Sushi Chef

Prepares and cooks sushi, tempura, teppanyaki & other items as needed

The position is full-time, non-exempt.

Main Duties: 

  • Participate in assigned food preparation in accordance with standards of quality, quantity control, taste and presentation; responding to incoming orders.
  • Ensure quality, consistency and cleanliness of kitchen operation;
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is clean and in proper working condition;
  • Maintain clean working environment to comply with set standards of hygiene and to avoid accidents;
  • Ability to breakdown all proteins
  • Assist in monthly financial reporting and inventory
  • Checks refrigerators to prevent contamination and waste.
  • Ability to organize daily workload. Creativity and artistic flair a plus.
  • Possesses solid knife skills.
  • Ability to assist in other Resort F&B operations when needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Requirements:  

  • High School degree or equivalent is required. Minimum of three years’ sushi experience is required.  Culinary apprenticeship or other formal training preferred.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have or obtain within the introductory period, a Food Handlers Card certification.

  • Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold/heat, wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
